Each NightBite Balanced Bait is hand-tuned through a detailed process to achieve perfect neutral buoyancy. Every lure is tank-tested up to 20 times to ensure flawless suspension — no rise, no fall, and no tilting. Just add water!
Why would you want a custom balanced crankbait? Mass-produced “suspending” baits rarely suspend true. Ours do because each one is individually adjusted, tested, and balanced by hand. Some steps of the process are outlined below.
- All balancing is done with a #4 VMC Duolock Snap and 12 lb. water-logged Fluorocarbon line added to the bait. I include a VMC Duolock Snap with the finished bait.
- Additional similar size spit-rings are added to the front and the back of each bait reducing the number of summer Walleye shaking loose.
- Premium replacement hooks (Owner, Gamakatsu, or VMC) are used, carefully selected one size up or down as needed to achieve perfect balance.
- Small precision split rings (#0 or #1) may be added for fine tuning.
- Reflective dots that glow like fish eyes at night are added to each lure then sealed with two coats of clear nail polish to protect when using attractants.
- Each bait is swim tested to ensure it runs straight behind the rod tip — never veering off-center.
